Default help wit load noises from sub

ok.. i have installed my system.. stock HU with a hi/low convertor.. and the amp with the sub.. 2 problems.. my sub when i turn on my car and off makes a thud.. i think it's the amp.. the amp is a crossfire tek 50.2.. also whenever i turn OFF my head unit.. i get major distortion feedback from the sub.. kinda like the sound when the THX thing gets super super loud.. so basically to correct that im driving wit da radio on min volume.. so wut's the problem? i thought it was amp groud to sub.. but when i took out the RCA's from the pre-amp.. i didnt get feedback noise when i turn off my head unit.. so im guessing it's something with my hi/low.. i think it might be the grounding point i picked for my high low.. or my antenna.. i dunno.. i guess i need help. thanks..

id start with the simplest thing first, try a better ground the the converter. the thud you hear from the sub when the radio turns on is normal, some amps like my JBL BP300.1 dont have this problem, it has a silent turn on circuit. The messed up thing about that is it can cause problems with your sub is exposed the that for a long period of time. im not too sure about the feedback you're getting with the radio turned off, that's a first by me. I hope you figure it out.

Yeah, I also say check the grounds for the conveter and the amp... Is the amp screwed down at all??? This may be the cause as well....

Yeah, I'd have to say a bad ground connection on the amp.

hey.. i havent checked the ground.. but i noticed that the power is turning on when my car turns on.. so my questions is where does the remote wire go?? rite now i have it going from the factory harness plug where u get a 12volt when i turn on the car.. i think that's the problem.. so which wire do i get to make my amp turn off with the head-unit?? and for a 6th gen accord does anyone know the color of the wire that does this?? or do i plug it into that antenna plug?? ok.. thanks a lot..

The remote wire connects to the head unit, if its the remote wire off the head unit you are talking about then it goes to the remote lead on the amp, which is with the power and ground leads. Im not sure what color it is for your car. Do you have a stock deck? If not, it could be blue, blue with white stripe, orange, get the point? Let me know what we're working with here, I might be able to get this figured out.

it's a stock head unit off a 98 accord.. but yeah.. like i wired it to the lead on the amp side between the ground and power.... and the other side i did it to the wire that turns on when i turn on the car.. i think i need to put it on the wire that turns on when i turn of the radio.. and i need that color.. but of course it could always be a bad ground too... btw.. do i even need a ground on from my hi/low.. .like the hi/low comes with 5 wires.. 1 for +/- left and 1 for +/- right and one for ground.. at first i put the ground to the factory head unit and distortion.. then i put to bare metal and still distortion.. and when i unplug the RCA signals in my amp.. the distortion goes away.. so i think it's something in the RCA signal..

so the remote wire from you amp goes where? to the head unit? That's where its supposed to go. You kinda lost me a little bit. So let me explain. The power lead on your amp should be wired directly to the battery, the ground should be less than 12" and touching bare metal, no paint or anything. The remote should connect the amp the the head unit so when the head unit gets turned on, it trips a relay that will turn on the amp. Im not sure what color the remote wire is on the stock head unit, or if it even has one. You can find out the color scheme by going to wherever they sell the factory wiring harness adaptor and on the back of the package it will show the colors and what they're for. No ground on hi/low convertor = massive distortion. Give it a good ground. You could have a bad convertor too.

i have a ground on the hi/low.. yeah sorry my explainations are fuct.. basically i need to know the color of the remote wire.. because i think the wire i picked it wrong.. cuz when i turn on the car and not the head unit, the amp turns on.. i think this will solve my problem.. so yeah.. i think for now if anyone knows the wire color that'd be good...
