so the remote wire from you amp goes where? to the head unit? That's where its supposed to go. You kinda lost me a little bit. So let me explain. The power lead on your amp should be wired directly to the battery, the ground should be less than 12" and touching bare metal, no paint or anything. The remote should connect the amp the the head unit so when the head unit gets turned on, it trips a relay that will turn on the amp. Im not sure what color the remote wire is on the stock head unit, or if it even has one. You can find out the color scheme by going to wherever they sell the factory wiring harness adaptor and on the back of the package it will show the colors and what they're for. No ground on hi/low convertor = massive distortion. Give it a good ground. You could have a bad convertor too.
