I got confused with the numbers. I own a 60.5 cs Kappa Series and not the 605cs Reference Series. Both are great speakers but like you said spend another $40 and get the Kappa series.

Infinity Reference 605cs on crutchfields isn't worth it. They're selling for $199. I got mines for $140 from a distributor. So as you can see, I chose reference over kappas because of the price. I love my 605cs components! I think they were a great buy! just make sure u get a 4 channel amp that compliments your componenets! Just because you have kick a$$ spkrs doesn't mean it'll sound good...it's really depends on the amp too!

The reference infiniti's had nice highs, but they were lacking in the mid-bass department. The kappa's I have now fill that void. If it is only a $40 difference, I would go for the kappas.

What car do you have ? I had to cut the back part of the plastic cup that holds the stock speaker because the infinity kappa is deeper compare to the stock speaker.

I have reference components in my 6th gen civic coupe and i had to dremel the plastic behind the speaker magnets off a bit.
I would not recommend reference speakers based on my personal opinion on them. I actually regret buying my set (5.25 component set for $125 new) since it lacks good midbass, and the tweeters are too harsh. This bad quality is all from their poorly designed crossovers for this model (people have used kappa crossovers and they say it helped)
i would invest in a higher model such as the kappas, or looking into crystal or focals (something even nicer)
and tidbit about SONY- their products did "suck" before, but they have been redesigning they amps and are performing much better. ( i have two of their amps) I too was a sony hater until this past year when they stated coming out with affordable amps. I had lanzar 1200D and RF 800a2 before this amp, and my sony 1600GXD performs better then those, and puts a lesser load on my alternator. I have never heard their speakers

I run the Infinity Kappa 60.5cs system up front with the 3 way 6x9 Infinity Kappa in the rear all powered by a 75x4 amp and it sounds great. I definately recommend going Kappa at least with the fronts. The tweeter on the Kappas I know will fit into the tweeter housing that the 6th gen EX and SI have.

i have a 7th gen sedan and the hole was too small for the kappas. i dremeled out a little metal and got it to fit. a pain in the ass tho but all worth it cuz it sounded sweet just running off my sony headunit.
