Headunit wont power up. Help.
The car is a 95 civic ex. When I bought it, it came with a cheap pioneer cd player. One day I hit a pothole and the pioneer died. It turns on but there is no sound. Today I bought a new Kenwood unit. Took out the pioneer and replaced it with kenwood. The car already had a wire adapter harness from the pioneer. So I thought just simple splice the new kenwood wires to the harness. I did that but the kenwood doesnt turn on or anything. Put the pioneer back in and it doesnt even turn on now. I used installdr when I was wiring everything. I checked the fuses in the headunits and the dash and all were fine. What is wrong? Why isnt the headunit getting any power?
Get a DMM and check if the stock power wire and/or ignition wire are indeed powering up at around 12V. If that's ok.. then re check your wiring.. did you perhaps miswire your ground and power cables? If you are not using your stock harness ground, ids the ground you have chosen sanded and clearly secured?
If that's fine, then check ALL fuses pertaining to that area (some HU's have fuses internally or externally..refer to your manual for more on this)... good luck!
