Default power distrobution from mono amp...

i'm using a MTX 8100D amp with 2 MTX 8000 (12")

I was told 0 guage wire is the best to use, so i'm going to have that running from my battery to my amp. How should i split the power from my mono amp to my 2 subs? A distrobution block? (1 ) 0 guage > (2) 4 guage ?

Thanks in advance!

looks like you are running a 1000 watt amp right?
if thats it.. run 4 gauge to that amp from the battery,
as far as powering your subs, you should wire up 12 gauge speaker wire, not power wire.

take the postive side of both speaker wires and twist em together and put them in the positive speaker terminal on the amp, and take the negative side of both speakers and twist em together and put them in the negative speaker terminal on the amp. You're mono amp will "think" you only have 1 sub, but both will recieve signals.

and as mentioned, subs do NOT need a power/ground connection, nor is it even possible. all they need are the positive and negative speaker wires.

the subs dont need a 12+ connection.

0 gauge seems overkill.

depending on the impedance of the subs, you wire the subs together either by parallel or series.

depends.. what is your amp stable at? i'm assuming 2 ohms and your subs are prolly dvc subs...
go to http://www.infinitysystems.com and search under car audio for subwoofer configuration for 2 dvc subs in a 2ohm load, and follow that wiring scheme

That's the original thread - I still say run 0/1 ga to it - better safe then sorry - that's my motto. Plus if you want to add more down the line, you will be out of gas with just 4 ga.

You still need to tell us what coil config you have - it's one of the following part numbers:

T8124A or the T81244A (being single and dual 4 ohm subs respectively)

MORE INFO PLEASE

BTW, PM me if you want stinger wire at dealer cost

it's T8124A (single coil) ...sorry about that

i was thinking the same thing you were *better safe then sorry*

i got these subs CHEAP (200$ for both brand new from a friend that owed me money)... but i do plan on maybe doing something a little better. Weight is a concern, so can't go too crazy

wire them in parallel then you will have a 2 ohm load on your 2 ohm mono amp. each sub will get 500 watts.
