Box Placement 2
Did we ever resolve this issue? What is the "ideal" way to fire a sub box in the trunk of a car like an Accord? I see so many installs with the subwoofers facing forward when you open the trunk, so the bass is firing backwards towards the trunk area; I see very little going the other way around, with the subs firing right through, strait, the rear seats...is there a rule to this or no?

there honestly isn't a best way. I have mine facing the rear in my accord, and I had them facing forward for a couple months before I switched them around. You gotta try both ways and see what sounds better to you. I think its depends on the car, the subs and how hard they hit.
there is not a "best way."
the low freq sound waves sound best when they travel longer distances. so having them bounce off the trunk and back into the cabin can sound better than it firing directly into the cabin.
theres only one good answer to that question...try and see for yourself.

Thanks everyone for your input; what Im getting is that one must experiment with placement and there is no standard for sub boxes and the way they fire; I gotta tell you, though, with regard to "having a hatchback like an Integra" and "firing the bass towards the hatch glass"....I had a 91 Nissan 240SX hatch, and in the back I had a SLAMMIN system made up of a Kicker SS12 full range enclosure (ported) powered by two Coustic AMP360 amps, each bridged to drive each 12" sub in the Kicker box...head unit was a Kenwood 440, and I had some Kenwoods up front in the doors, 61/2's I think...anyway, I had the box firing FORWARD in the hatch area, towards the passenger cabin, because this was a FULL RANGE box, with not only subs but mids and highs....but I had always thought that in vehicles such as SUVs and hatchbacks, subwoofer boxes should be facing forward, because the whole cargo area in the back is open, and the bass could slam directly over the rear seats and into the passenger area...is this not correct? Boxes should ideally be facing backwards even in SUVs and hatches?
