Default Fake alarm (Flashing LED)

Hey wassup guys i got a question that maybe somebody can help me with...

Alright what i want to do is make an led that you could buy from radio shack or something and have it flash like one does from an alarm system but ONLY when the car is turned off...now i have been thinking about how to do this and the only thing i can think is use like a resistor so high that you have two power sources running to the light, one is a constant and one turns off whenever the car is turned off...im not sure if this would even work just a "sort of" theory...well any suggestions are appreciated.. thanks!

www.parts-express.com has pre-wired flashing LED's, with a holder and ready to accept 12 volts... you'll have to wire the positive side to a constant 12 volt source, like the radio back-up circuit... wire the negative to the accessory lead comming from the key switch... when the key is off, this wire shows a negative signal and will ground the LED, making it flash. Its very easy.

how do i find the accessory lead coming from the ignition switch though...i mean i went to radio shack and bought a flashing led and a resistor to convert it to 12 volts and plugs it up to a switch and just grounded it to a bolt and i just turn the switch on and it turns itself on BUT i wanna have it turn on automatically just dont know how to do that...

the accessory wire in a 97 eclipse is the blue wire in the ignition switch harness...

This wirring configuration works in MOST vehicles.

connect the power to any constant 12 volt source... the radio memory wire is a good choice.

The accessory wire from the ign switch will ground out when the key is off... I say the accessory wire because if you connect to one of the ignition wires the LED will be flashing if you're sitting in your car listening to music with the key in the accessory position... that'd be pretty ghetto if you ask me.
