Default subs

what should i get a pair of 10's or 12,s for subs. I will mostly be listening to hip hop and R & B. I need some thoughts i am lost on which ones to get. I had 10's before but they were in a bandbass box. I am now going to go totaly enclosed.

a pair of Alpine Type-R 12's will set you back roughly $230.00 shipped..they dont require a BIG BOX and work very well sealed!

PLUS the subs look kinda cool with the red markings on them!

If you are listening primarily to hip hop and r&b then you would definitely benefit from a 12" speaker instead of a 10" speaker. In the correct box a 12" will allow you to take more advantage of the lower bass potential primarily found in the types of music you will be listening to. If you look into Rockford Z series or HE series 12" subs, you should be able to stay within your $200 budget.

i second the Alpine Type R subs. im not sure if you can get them under $200 for a pair of 12s though.

and another thing about them, like mentioned above, they do well in a sealed box and they dont need much room at all. you can get away with giving each one 1cf.

I would suggest 2 12's. I have 2 12in Pioneer IMPP's and they have a tighter "pop" similar to 10's but have the deepness of regular 12's. Perfect for any kind of bass and rather cheap ($200ish)

I've also had 2 12in Fosgate XLC's and they were more of a deep bass (also around/under $200)

I was re-thinking my earlier suggestion about going with Rockford subs. Rockfords tend to perform better in vented enclosures so they really wouldn't go along with your totally sealed idea. Check out these subs and let me know your thoughts. Just a small company who makes a decent product.
