That's comparing apples to oranges. You can't compare an internal to an external amp.

My comment was in regards to a unit being a good transport, and having features like optical outs, and using high-quality, low-tolerance parts. Most people won't notice or won't really care though.

Wether or not a person has a dail up connection or broadband is null. Some of us buy CD's and rip them to MP3's (like myself) and just have one MP3's CD with all different types of albums on them.

Re-read my post...I mentioned ripping from a store bought CD. The deal is that if you don't have access to many MP3's (either through d/l or by ripping them) then you are probably less apt to using that MP3 feature...if you aren't going to use it much, it's not worth paying for it. It's kind of like a home exercise machine. If it's bulky and stored in the closet and is a PITA to get out, you probably won't use it, and you won't see any benefit. Same thing goes for MP3...not everyone has a fast connection or a fast computer to make ripping, downloading, burning easy and convenient.

Right now I have discs with one artist on them but every song they've made. I haven't put a regular CD in the unit since I got it.
Looks like MP3's work well for you....I'd like to try it one day.

What about alpine's mediaxpander thing? Its suppose to restore quality to file types like mp3s. Any notice any difference when listening to mp3s on alpine as opposed to another manufacturer?
