Default HU stolen...again, need advice asap please

Hi guys...

my Alpine 7894 just got stolen again.
it was stolen in DFW parking garage !!!
and I already took out the face, so they still went for the HU only.

anyway, I;m gonna need a new one

Here are my choices:

Alpine CDA-7897
http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...o&i=500CDA7897

Pioneer DEH-P8400MP
http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...o&i=130DEHP840

Pioneer DEH-P840MP
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/Pi...,28912,00.html

Please disregard Alpine's capability to function as a mobile phone, and give your overall advice/suggestions based on quality, style, features, etc etc.

Brief desc. of my stock setup:
6.5" Kenwood speakers in front
6x9 Alpine type-R in rear (not components)
Alpine V12 4-ch amp
No money subs for now...maybe later.

Thx a lot guys...

If your HU got stolen AGAIN, why don't u invest in a good alarm system? like one of those pager alarms. but anyways...if those are your 3 choices of HUs, I wouldn't go for any of the pioneers. I've installed those in my friends cars, and we just didn't like it. First of all, the HU's cover piece doesn't fit so my friend's HU is sticking out a bit. 2nd of all, when we installed the pioneer HU, we lost AM stations. It's not his antenna that's messed up. But the only good thing that came out was that we got the Pioneer DEH-P840MP was only $300. I've noticed that you like the motorized flip HU's. Why don't you check out Kenwood. I personally like the Kenwood KDC-MP922.

what kind of moron is gonna steal a HU with no faceplate??

Stick with an Alpine... they are comming out with some new models... Crutchfield is starting to get them, but no replacement for the 7897 yet. They have replaced the 7894 however. With this in mind, you may be able to find a 7897 at a low price... being its soon to be replaced.

Kenwood is nice too, and some of their new faces are more appealing to me... as well as clarion.

Keep an eye out, as most companies are comming out with new equipment.

Is it just me...or is your HU a little bit sticking out?
I mean, even the silver mounting/bracket is sticking out.
Is it supposed to be like that or is it just car-specific?

I'm leaning towards your HU but I don't like seeing the silver mounting/bracket also sticking out

Thank you...

I wouldn't jb weld it, maybe an alarm would be a good investment...but making it harder for them to get it out means they break out the hacksaw and cut up your dash, it happened to my brother...good luck man

my friend have an accord and his deck (he got a regular deck, kenwood KDC-MPV619) look just like that, so i dont think its really "sticking out." i think almost all deck install in the accord would look like that...
