JL w6v2s???
i think JL make great subs. i havent heard their v2 line yet, but if its an improvement over the first, i say definitly go for it.
ive never used an amp from eclipes amp before, but have heard good reviews on their amps. just make sure you get the right impedance subs for that amp.

How many JL's are you using? If it's one or two, you probably don't need the big of an amp - although too much power is better than no enough... (it's not enough power that blows subwoofers)
The Theil/Small parameters of that speaker suggest a sealed box for the most accurate reproduction of music, but you could use a ported box without too much compromize in accuracy. You will definately get more volume out of a ported box (3 - 6 dB increase - where 10dB would be twice as loud to the human ear)
Most individuals would not notice the performance differences (especially sound quality) between a properly build sealed or ported box, so the significance is minimal.
THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF YOUR SUBWOOFER SYSTEM IS THE BOX!!! Not what kind of box, but the design itself - ported more than sealed.
It's very important you have a box made specifically for the drivers you are using. Don't place the subs in ANY ported box. The port itself acts as a tuned resonator in direct correlation with the characteristics of the driver. Wrong length and/or diameter of the port, and your box will sound like CRAP... and I mean really bad.
1. Use a box designed by JL Audio
2. Have a custom box built by a QUALIFIED institution
Good luck with the system... those JL's should sound fantastic!

I plan on having the box custom made and ported through the rear seat (there's a fold-down armrest in the center with a "port" to the trunk). The install is being done by a friend of mine so I'm not to worried about the install on account that customers include the Mountain Dew Hummer and the 2by2.net Lamborghinis. But, I'll probably do (2) 12w6v2. Thanks again for the thoughts.

:slap: You really need to read more about car audio fine points before filling little newb's heads with inaccurate information...

click on right side link "Too Little Power".
If you don't feel like scrolling through that list for an hour... you can just click on this link here and go directly to the page moofoo's refering to. http://www.eatel.net/~amptech/elecdisc/2ltlpwr.htm
As for that amp, get something with current, along with power. Eclipse amps have no balls basically. Worthless...more worthless than their tuna can subs...
Acurabros, ignore the children pulling out websites to try and disprove your theory. As being someone who's worked in the industry for quite some time, I totally agree with you. It's better to over power than under power...period!
