Bro, what do your subs sound like? What do they do (the amp and/or subs) that make you think you blew either of the two? Give me some symptoms then I could give your some answers but you're being kinda vague.

what i do to tell if the sub is blown, is push in gently on the sub itself. if it feels weird or crunches or makes any abnormal noises, its most likely blown.

other than that we need more info

if the amp is completely blown, then you wouldnt hear anything....if no power is getting through the amp to the subs themselves, then you would have absolute silence from them...

just to prove the point, go unhook the power cable from your amp...if youve got everything hooked up correctly, your subs wont be doing a thing...

check the fuse going to the amp from your battery, and check the fuse on the amp itself...if either one of those is blown, replace it, and then you'll be able to give us a better idea of whats actually happening...

Also, has your amp been cutting off recently before now? Most likely you blew your amp because its easier to blow your amp then it is to blow your subs.

Post the specs of the amp and the subs.

the amp is a kenwood 600 watt max amp and the subs are 2 12 in MTX 4000.... so i'd only been running the subs at about 1/2 power. i haven't had any trouble before now with the subs or amp. when my music is turned on they kinda just make a faint farting noise when they should hit. They barely move at all and fail to do anything at all most of the time they should hit. Its almost like they are struggling... thanks for any help

Dude, don't quote me because I may be wrong, but it sounds like your subs are being underpowered. The MTX brand subs (especially the 12") require a lot of power, and when a sub isn't getting the power it needs it makes that "farting" noise. Most subs actually blow because they are underpowered as opposed to being over powered.

Try turning your gains up to see if it continues to make that noise. Also, how do your have them wired? If you have them wired normal (parellel) try bridging it to get more power to the subs (if your amp is stable at bridging). I don't know the specs of your amp. Your subs could be blown already because of the underpowering, but just turn up the gains or re-wire to check.

Another possibility is that you may have a hole in your box and the air escaping is making the sub to do that "farting" noise, but most likely your subs are being underpowered.
