will a 12w6v2 handle this much?
will a 12w6v2 handle 600 watts continuous from a kicker kx600.1?? i am aware that kicker amps are underrated and JL specs are underrated also but would the jl w6v2 take it ok? if i watched the gains and volume..

im assuming thats a 2 ohm sub... thats why you're using the 600 watt rms figure for the amp.
JL's have a tendency to blow easily... so overpowering them wouldnt be recomended.
An Alpine Type R, Infinity Kappa or Kappa Perfect or Boston Acoustics Competitor and Pro series subs will all handle the 600 watts RMS, being you get the 2ohm (or dual 4 ohm) versions.
At 4 ohms, that amp is only rated at 300 RMS.
I'd personally pick a better amp too... maybe an Alpine MRD-M500.

Well a single w6v2 is either going to be run at 2 ohms (if paralleled) or 8 ohms (if series). (I don't know why they changed it - should have just left them at dual 6 ohm vc's. The w3's are for people who want other vc configurations.) 2 ohms is what you will want to run it at and 12w6v2 handles 400 watts rms. There should still be a little headroom. And if you look at the PDF file HERE, you're still in a manageable range with the 600 watts from the Kicker amp.
Bottom line, it will depend on how hard you push your system. I have 2 of the older 12W6's wired to 1.5 ohms and am using a JBL BP1200.1 to push them. The head unit is an Alpine 7941 with 4 volt pre-outs, so the gains on the JBL are at their minimums. This set up is in my wife's SUV, which she rarely if ever drives them hard. I'll occasionally crank it up, but that's like less than once a month for a very short period.:naughty:

Well Ive got mine runing on a JL 500/1 AND It POUNDS! Maybe a little overpowered? Well the guy at JL told me to go with a JL 1000/1 for 2 12" W6V2's so one on my 500/1 be cool! I have to get it in the right box before I can realy give you a straight answer, I put it in a sealed box that is just WAY to big. I got it up to half volume before I started to trip and thought to myself (gee do I wana FAWK up my sub before I get it in its REAL box?) NO! BUT bass mechanic knows his shiz. I would say that 400 RMS will be PERFECT! If you want to see the power handling specs go to WWW.JLAUDIO.COM and go to subwoofers then look at the W6V2 12" "POWER HANDLING CHART" on the left!

According to their site it will take it. My friend has had 500 watts going to each of his W3's that are rated at 250 watts. He hasn't had 1 problem in over a year. They sound sooo good. I love the sound of JL's.

remember everyone, theres RMS and peak wattage... be sure to compare the proper specs.
a W7 is built better than their other subs... but can still be blown.
3500 watts huh?? what amp would that be?
