I heard about the Type R's....
What is the difference with the component and the coaxials? Is it just the tweeter is built on the speaker for coaxials as opposed to components having the tweeters separate?

Basically the only difference is that the tweeter is mounted on the mid range speaker.
However, most components come with a better crossover, can handle more power, and will allow for better installing options.

If I get the Type R's....is this something I can install straight to the HU? Or do I have to use an amp?
I don't really want anything outrageous. I'm looking for decent, crisp, clear sound. Kinda like the sound that comes in the new cars from the factory. They sound decent...at least in my opinion.

The Type-R's need power. Plain and simple. They have a very high RMS rating and a rather low sensitivity of 87db. I've heard Type-R's running off of HU power and I've heard them running off of a decent amount of power.
They didn't sound as bad as I had expected running off of HU power, but the detail just wasn't present. The more power, to a point, you feed a good component set the better they sound.
I'm also having trouble finding ANYTHING about that model number. Are you sure it's not a CDA-9885? Thats what the picture looks like.

Thanks for the feedback as well. So what kind of amp should I also look into if I put the Type R's?
