Don't forget about the enclosure, a detail that is commonly overlooked. When I had my focus, I had an elemental designs 10o.4 powered by a DEI amp, getting approximately 500 watts rms. Served my purposes well since I am an SQ guy, but a lot of it had to do with the custom fiberglass box in my left wheel well.

Also, take care of your front stage first and do it right. One of my biggest regrets is that I have never put together a good two-way or three-way component front stage.

I couldn't imagine having anything louder than my one 10" Infinity DVC. I might upgrade to a Kappa 10".

I've heard plenty louder, I'd just never want it in my car.

The loudest I can recall was 6 Type-R's, 6 MRP-M850's. It breathes for you...

I personally prefer the 'DIY' components to big name stuff. Similar quality for less money. One of my favorite subs was an old alumapro alechemy -- sounded oh so sweet.

No you buy quality components from companies that do not have "the name" and save about 30-40% off the price. I haven't kept up with the various companies since it's been 2+ years that I have owned a car, but this is where I bought my last subwoofer.

I used to be big into car audio back in the day.

Dweezel, I know whatcha mean and agree with you 100%. I know a few people who buy unbranded components.

Figured I'd update. Just installed 2 Type R 6x9's into the back of my Prelude. The install went pretty smooth, except that it was hard to reach one bolt on both speakers due to it being so close to the back window. I had to dremel one of them out of there.

They sound beautiful though, definetly a step up from the Pioneers that were in there. Now I need to do the fronts, then pair'em up with an amp. The question here is, should I hook up the fronts/rears to seperate amps, or find a good multi-channel amp and hook all 4 up to it? I'm not planning on doing that for a couple of months, because I need to get the fronts first, which I can't afford to spend money on at the moment.

Also, my brother gave me his old 2g iPod Nano the other night, because he picked up the new ones. So I bought the $30 iPod hookup and I'm loving it
