Default remote programming

i have a factory alarm in my 93 prelude but i didnt have a remote for it so i bought an aftermarket remote. my problem is that the alarm turns on and off like it should but it dosent lock/unlock the doors. do i have to program the remote in order for the doors to unlock or is that the way the older preludes are made? alarm but no keyless entry.

its a remote that i bought online, its not an original but it came with a little chip that i had to switch in the alarm unit. this makes the remote work with the factory alarm system without any programing. but now im wondering if theres a way to program this remote to also unlock the doors.
