Default Stereo Code Blues

I have a '98 CL and cannot seem to get the 5-digit security code to work. My battery went dead several days ago and typed in three wrong codes before I found the card with the code on it. I then disconnected/reconnected the battery, typed in the correct code and it worked. Several days later, my alternator went out, draining the battery. After replacing the battery and alternator, the code will not work. I have disconnected the battery for over an hour, reconnected and tried again with no success. Any ideas? Please help!

also if you put it in three times you locked the unit, i think you can reset it by pullin you 7.5 back up fuse under the hood, pull that fuse for 25 sec and put it back in

if you take your car to the dealer they can look up the code from your vin more than likely they won't charge you. also plug and unplugging a locked unit won't reset it

I have a similar problem. My CL had a problem which I got fixed with a mechanic. He had to disconnect the battery and the radio didn't turn on. I tried some codes but didn't work. Instead the stereo got locked now. I contact the dealer and he said that they will charge about 90 bucks. Is there any way I can do it myself or other cheaper way to get the radio back to work?

not really but if you know a honda mechanic they can also pull it up for you so you can ask one of the techs on the side to do it

If you pull the radio and write down the model and serial number take that copy of ownership of the vehicle to the dealer parts department
they only charge $20.00 or they do it for free i have done that 3 times

go to the parts department

also if you try the wrong code 3 times yes it locks the radio and you need to unplug or remove the batt wire for 1 hour
