rattling problem
ok i have a 2001 honda accord ex I'm having some problems with rattling and annoying vibrations. They mainly in the trunk lid and the body where the 6X9s are. its caused by my sub RE XXX 15in
. after first it wasn't so bad but know it's flat annoying and ruining the SQ of the subs cause of all the stupid rattling. Any advice? would dynamat or edead work on something like this?
thanks

Sound deadening will work. There are a couple reasons why things rattle. Sheet metal is too light and is flexing, things are hitting each other. Find out what is happening, then go from there. Its already a given that the metal is flexing with that sub in there.
Put some weight on the big panels like the trunk lid and see if that helps. You can just kinda lean and put your weight on the trunk lid. If that helps, then you can add weight to the panels with deadening mat. Then you can do the same for the side panels and the trunk floor. After that, it might be easier to isolate the individual rattles.

easy fix for most... if its the license plate which it probaly is, take it off and put a rag or a peice of fome behind it then put it back on... the material will keep it still and it wont rattle any more... if its the trunk lid itself wrap some electrical tape around the stationare hook that the locking mechanism attaches too , usualy black square hook... this will tighten the junction of the trunk and car so the lid will not rattle and its alot cheaper then dynamat

Before u run out and get Sound deadener, Make sure you know where the rattle is coming from. I.E. 7th gens spring system for the trunk cross's that combined with 2 tens drove me nuts. As I went thru the whole trunk laying down deadner it was a real let down to turn my system on and still here the rattle. When I traced it I was suprized it was the spring.
Can you give me more details on this expanding foam? Just go to home depot and buy foam spray then fill the inner panels? I am trying to cut down on road noise. I have some DynoMat but not sure where to start this project whether i start on the doors, the trunk lid, the trunk itself etc. Has anyone deadened their interior that can give me some insight and if it provided good results.
I dont like expanding foam because of the mess. It is not going to be fun if you ever have to do work in the inner panels.
If you have dynamat and your goal is to lessen the road noise, there are probably specific spots where you can place it. I know "theotherdave" have done this with his Integra and can provide some feedback. I will link him this thread.
