i just sold my old system, well not old i have had it for about 2 months. I'm savings fo rmy new system that consists of: 2 RF T212D4 subs and a RF 20001BD amp

subs are rated at 1000 rms a piece
amp is rated at 2000 rms

will a 170 amp alt handle all this without any headlight dimming

i would say yes. but only if you get a good battery and cap.

it depends on how loud you'll run it.

the 20001 can pull MAX 250 Amps :eek3:

assuming he wont be be blaring it at its loudest for hours on end. if you are worried about it, then think about getting a secondary battery.

those subs will be so loud that i won't run it up that high, also because i don't want to buy more windows

so you've blown your windows before? The only time i've heard it happen is when the glass has a crack, or a deep chip in it. I've seen some monster systems... and no one has said anything about blowing a window.

i haven't but my buddy has with his 2 type s 12s in his s10, and my windows have chips and all kinds of other stuff in then, so idk

170 should be more then fine. im getting no dimming off my 80alt amp and i run real close to what you're running

how long have you been running your 80 amp alt? with my 3 amps, my stock alt only lasted a few months. Then i had to get a HO alt. which i broke in about 4 months. Got it rebuilt and i broke it again in about 2 months. Now my car is just sitting at my house cause i'm too lazy to take it out and send it back for another rebuild.

its doing fine for the last 5+ months and its not dying, ill leave it at that.

did you upgrade all your power/ground wires? i dont know if having a too small of a wire causes strain on an alternator/battery, resulting a decrease in that products longevity. just my 2cents
