Default What amp to power SWR-1522D??

15" Alpine Type-R SWR-1522D
This sub is 1500 watts peak power and 750 rms (dual 2 ohm). i was wondering what amp/amps i could use to power this???

so far the best ive found was a mono amp ALPINE MRP-M650. it has 600 watts continuous rms at 2 ohms. i really dont want to spend more than $250 on an amp.

anyone got any other suggestions??

Do you already have the sub?

For that particular sub you want an amp that gives off the most power at 1 OHM or 4 OHM, NOT 2 OHM. There is no way for that sub to become a 2 OHM sub. You can only wire it in series, which will turn it into a 4 OHM sub, or in parallel, which will turn it into a 1 OHM sub.

There are a few high powered amps that can go down to 1 OHM.

The first amp is a little too much power and a little too much in cost, but its one hell of an amp.

ok so let's say i had an amp that produces

100 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms
125 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms
250 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms

how much power would that produce at 4 ohms for my sub? and could i use 2 of these amps to produce even more power??

sorry for the basic quetions. yes, i do have the sub.

The sub will be getting 250 watts at 4 ohms when you bridge the amp. No you cant use two of those amps to produce more power.

That BXi1606D is a nice amp at a bargain price, but you'd have to be very conservative on the gains. It'll give you plenty of headroom in case you want to upgrade to a sub with higher power ratings in the future.

You may also want to check out the BXi606. It'll give you 600W RMS and is roughly $75.00 cheaper.
