I have a 91 RX-7, and lately the check engine light has been flickering on and off. If anyone has a couple words of advice for me, Id appreciate it.

 

That's a hard one because there's only a couple of possible things going on. First of all let me ask you, have you done any whatsoever mods to either your engine or to the electrical wiring. Well if it were my car, i'd have to suspect it being due to faulty or lose wiring. But then again how often does the engine light flicker. Just go back and recall if you did any kind of wiring or engine work. Because you couldn't loosened a wire in the engine compartment that's causing this prob.

 

I only have an exhaust, and I never really messed with the wiring at all. Do you think it might be the idle possibly, because it seems to flicker mainly when I let go of the gas.

 

Sounds like you need a knock sensor.. I'm not too sure for an rx7.. but for my civic hatch my light came on and off and flickered and it was the knock sensor.. but that might be from also swapin' a B16A with a new ECU, so i was messin' with the wiring.. IDK man.. thats what I think it may be
