Default Best component speakers

Idk if this is the best place to ask but i'll give it a try. I'm new to this car speaker thing so i need some help. I'm looking to upgrade from my stock system in my 95 civic with some component speakers. I dont want to spend all too much. probably somewhere in the $125-$250 range. Any suggestions on good component systems? I plan on getting an amp too so if you have any good suggestions for amps...go ahead. Thanks!

Infinity components sound pretty damn good, whichever line it is. The Alpine Type-R's are very detailed, not too much midrange though. You should be able to pick up some Boston Acoustics for around $250 if you wanted to max your spending limit out a bit.

i have the infinity references and i think they're too bright at times and lack mids with the passive crossover. i was able to kill some of the brightness by going active crossover. i've heard the dynaudio gt360 and i fell in love with them and my old boss had the old boston 3ways and those sounded great but the staging was a pain to get right.

my system is currently audiobahn 1200watts for my 2 Jl 12w6v2

i have crappy sony 6x9 but i wont upgrade them cuz i got them for free and i'm happy with them

Its very subjective. You could ask 20 people and get 20 different answers. Even then its gonna be what you like and that may not agree with what someone else reccomends. My advice is go to a store probably, not best buy and like stores becuase its hard to do critical listening with so much other noise. Smaller shops should be happy to let you listen to different speakers. Listen to as many as you can and then you can get back to us on what you like and what you dont like. Keep in mind it will sound a lot different then on the sound board but it will give you a general idea what you like and what you don't.

Which model CDT?

Elemental Designs has a set of comps that are in your price range.
