From what I understand the cdts and ed's are probably going to have similar sound since both are made by cdt. Some things may be different but I would expect a fairly similar sound from both with probably minor differences although I have not heard both so thats just an observation. Judging by my experience with my euro sports, which are upper end cdts, its probably going to have a "laid back" sound. There will not be screaming highs if thats what you are looking for. If want to go on ebay I'd also look at the alpine type x's. You can usally find them for a decent price. I had the spx-137a's which are the older models. Good mids, laid back similar to cdt, only problem is they didnt have a lot of midbass. Anyways those are just some of my impressions. Take it for what it's worth. Like I said it's all what you prefer.

I ended up ordering a pair of edi 6000's from Elemental Designs for only $125 and I love them. They are a great set of first components especially for that price. Thanks for the input everyone
