Default Jl Audio Vs Kicker

I want to buy one jl audio w6...i have a w3 already and I like. I was going to buy another one,..but i rather not lose trunk space. So I'm thinking about buying a 12 inch W6

Or a Kicker model...I'm not sure which kicker to buy, or which I will buy

I think I'll be needing a new amp as well...currently i have a 2 channel something amp (some generic)

If I buy the JL, should I go with a JL amp...

I was thinking about this MTX amp, 300 rms...i seen @ bestbuy..it was powering 2 alpine type E's and it looked like it was producing more than enough for it

For JL Audio i recommend the 13''W6 for a single expensive but worth it. For kicker i recomment the 12'' L5 or L7 and 15'' L5 or L7(the square looking ones). They hit. For an amp, i think Sony Xplod series are pretty good. They have a 2 channel one that says 1200w max on the cover but is only like 4-500watts for 150 brand new. I had one of those amps hitting 2 Fosgate Hx2's 12'' 1000w each and it pounded the shit outta them..

Anything that is Sony car audio usually sucks monkey balls, but if money is an issue go ahead an get a sony or a cheap amp.

Agreed. You couldn't pay me to put most of Sony's stuff in my car.

Well if you havent heard them before so i wouldnt jump to judgements. I've heard both the Sony amps, subs, and headunits before and they are pretty good.

We all shouldnt forget that car audio is subjective. What is good to one ear can be trash to another...vice versa.

Buying a 12" W6 would be a good setup giving the right amp. I remember hearing that the Kicker L7s or L5s like a huge ported box. So think about that also. I've had W3s in a small sealed box, and they do well in them. :hs:

I'd go with the JL, because the kickers do like bigger vented boxes. To me, the JL's sound better than the Kicker L7's too.

i had a w6 12 in my rx-7 with a 1000 watt kenwood amp it hit hard but when they stold the sub i bought a L7 12 kicker----to me the kicker has a better sound to it......also you really feel it in the chest if you got a hatch or suv.....people think i have 3 12's or 2 12's in my trunk but i laught and say nope just one 12(ported box of course) go to a sterio shop and ask if you can hear one then see what you like better.

my stereo shop don't carry the square kickers...but they do have the new w6's, so i think i'm going to go with that. There willing to work with me on price, 300+ depending if i buy a amp and box from them...

i'm going to try a couple boxes while i'm there
