Default Jap Double DIN radios (or Jap radios in general)

Ok, I love double DIN units... but there is a very small market for them in the US, so theres very few of them and they're pricey (usually not very high-end either).

I noticed there is always double DIN radios on ebay from Japan. Now most of them that I have seen have english displays and controls, good starting point - as i couldnt read japaneese to save my life. However, I have heard of issues with the radio reception in the us, can anyone confirm this or elaborate on this issue?

Any input is greatly appretiated!

The radio frequencies are different and will need a converter. Even with a converter you will not get all of the freq in the us cause its a larger range then in japan.

97teg is exactly right. Even though I don't listen to FM, I was going to attempt the same thing as you because I like the double dins too but got a Kenwood DDX7015 instead.

yea, i'd do the same if I had that kinda money... that is one sweet deck, looks like it could almost be a OEM Nav screen.

The few radio stations I do listen to are kind of in the middle of the frequencies, 92.3, 97.1, 100.3, 102.3. Any idea what the frequency range is on a jap deck?

97teg, that site is an awesome find! SumAccordguy, if you get a double din put in make sure to post a pic.

Here's what the DDX looks like in 4th gen Lude . I wanna get the navi for it put can't justify the cost.....yet.

I ended up getting an alpine 9815. Eventhough I dont listen to much radio, I wouldnt be able to deal with the frequencies being different and all.

One of my buddies used to have that Alpine in his car, it's pretty nice.
