no that won't work. 8ohms and 8ohms will bring it down to 4 ohms. 4ohms and 4 ohms will bring it to 2ohms. 3 and 4? what speaker do you have that's 3ohms? going with 3 and 4ohms will probbaly even out at 1.65~1.70. if your amp can't handle that, it'll probbal either blow out or go into protection mode.

give us a rundown of what you have and us techies can help you out.

BTW the amp is capable of operating down to 2 ohms. I just want to know what type of power output to expect, does it even out at likek 3.5 ohms or cus its differnt chanels remain at 3 ohm and 4 ohm? Thanks
Firstly, yeah, it's fun to just have discussions/debates to bring out different perspectives on the same subject. We all have something to learn from it all.

As for your situation, you will probably have the channels powering your front speakers at 4ohms and the channels powering your rear speakers at 3ohms. The power output depends on what the amp's rated at, and at what impedence. If your amp is capable of it, the rear channels will probably be able to produce more power due to the lower impedence. You'll want to account for this when you adjust your settings for a proper front sound stage. For a better answer, give us the brand and model numbers of your amp and speakers .

ok well I have a hifonics 4 channel x 100wrms @4 ohms amp and I was looking at either polks or infinity componentgs for the front, and I saw some cheap audiobahn midbass speakers with no tweets, only cus I figured that the two rears would be wasted since I have a 4 chananel amp. They say they are 3 ohms?

You don't want any midbass only speakers for the rear. Even though the vast majority of your image comes from the front spekers you still want to have full range speakers. Do some nicer components in the front and some nice coax's in the rear. I would highly reccomend taking a listen to Kenwood Excelon speakers. They sound AWESOME for the price you pay <$300 for components and about $150 for coax with high and low pass filters built on. Check 'em out.

well my setup now with 6x9 in the rear i have a low pass electronic filter set at 5000 hz, and that gives the best sound. I heard tweets only play over 10,000hz, so i figured i would do without them. But with my current stock speakers it probably sounds crappy because I dont have tweets?

I guess its a matter of taste but Its just so hard to tell unless u already have it installed and usaully by then its too late. Does anyone else have anythign that might help me?
