As sslkickers pointed out in his poems, I mean posts, don't go with the audiobahn unless you are in love with its looks...their focus is much more on looks rather than build quality.
As for what I'd get, I'm a fan of Alpine's amps...in that price bracket I like the MRD-M605 . It's good for 600W rms at 2 ohms which would be perfect for that sub. Most of their amps actually put out a little more power than their ratings suggest. Its retail is $400 but you can get it on ebay here for instance, for $220 shipped.
What do you think?

I'd take an Alpine amp over audiobahn anyday. Hell, I'd take an Alpine anything over Audiobahns products.

Something like a jbl gto 601.1, phoenix gold xenon 600.1, kicker 600.1 an rockford in the 600 watt range you may be able to find on ebay for about that price. Honestly for a good amp i with that much power it would be looking at 250-300 for a good one off even ebay. That would be a more comfortable price range for that kind of TRUE power. Or something better that is used but then you have to know what you are looking for. It also takes 2x the power to make a noticable but not huge jump in vol. So the difference between a 500 watt and 600 watt amp is not going to be a huge amount even though it seems like a lot. This is as long as the amp is not overrated. Oh yeah and only look at rms watts NOT PEAK POWER. Peak power usally means "if lightening strikes."

honestly i am not on a budget... but at the same time i dont want to blow my $$$ on car stuff... I would rather invest it, make money, and totally upgrade cars/etc...

I just want a nice thump without the price tag... so around $250-300 for good quality is not bad...

97teg is right. And about the only situation you'd have to be in to upgrade your sub amp beyond the amps we listed would be if you suddenly found thousands of dollars burning a hole in your wallet, which isn't a situation you or I will probably run into anytime soon. So at this point, it's definitely better to spend $300 for a great quality amp instead of a poor $150 one that you're gonna want to upgrade later anyway. But additionally don't forget the amp kit and speaker wire which will run you at least another $40 if you don't already have it.

Car audio is a cruel cruel mistress. I remember back when I said I was "all done" after buying a blaupunkt HU years ago at age 16...

Hello there fellas... I am ready to get my sounds in... I think I have almost everything I need... I am using my stock tape Head unit in addition to the add on (slave) CD Player and will be using the following...

Mono Amp KX600.1
Solobaric S12L5 Woofer
L5 Box...

and am now wondering what else I will need to get the whole system together. I am not going to get an aftermarket HU (they are tacky), unless I can find one that looks stock. I just want to know what I might need if I plan to wire everything with the stock unit...

I need car audio cables...???
I need a reverse harness for the HU???
anything else???
