Default problems with sub and amp

i have a rockford fosgate amp and an infinity 10". for an enclosed box, it needs to be about .75 cu. ft.
i had it in a cheap box that was that size, and just got a better box, but its about 1.5 cu.ft.
after switching everything over, now when i turn the radio on, or change the station, the sub pops, and hits the bass hard about 3 or 4 times. whats the problem?
everything is hooked up the way it should be, and the same way it was before, and i had no problems.
it sounds fine after that, so i dont think the size of the box is the problem.
maybe i moved the remote wire or rcas to close to the ground or power wire?
when i was hooking it up, i accidentally hit the ground wire on the power wire, and it sparked, but the fuse didnt blow.
could that have messed up the amp somehow? like i said, it works fine after the pop, and 3 or 4 hits.

Triple check all your wiring. Start with the ground wires.

ive already checked all connections for about an hour today. disconnected everything and put it all back together. then took everything off one by one, and still nothing. everything is how it should be. the only thing i didnt check is the ground connected to the chassis. but i know its ok, because its on the bolt for the rear seat seatbelt, and thats tight.

could hitting the ground and power wire together cause this? maybe messed up the amp somehow? i dont have another amp laying around to see if thats it. i hooked up a different speaker, and the same thing happens, so i know its not the sub.

Ground and power wire together is fine, as long as they arent touching obviously. But the chassis is basically a ground and your power wire is all over that.

Try changing the ground. It wont hurt. And make sure it is connected on bare metal. Sand off the paint if you cant find a spot.

ill try that cuz i want to make the ground shorter anyway, but i know that wont help any because its still attached to the same place it has been for 4 months. without any problems.

If you unplug the rca's and turn the amp on does it still make the thump? Is it plugged into the factory radio or an aftermarket one?

aftermarket pioneer, no thump unless the rcas are plugged in. now remember, everything worked fine 1 hour before i put the sub in the new box. some wires moved around, so maybe they are crossing each other where they shouldnt be.
