Default problems with my sub.. help!

my friend and I just installed an Infinity Basslink in my car... prob is, after I off my headunit, the basslink will not shut down until 2 minutes later... during that time, the bass sounds like it's emitting some "feedback sound"... kinda like that sound when u plug in a microphone into a speaker.... it's a low humming sound....

and the weird thing is, the humming sound is louder when the trunk is closed... only way i got rid of it is by unplugging the wire for the source...

any idea wat the prob is? we're thinking it might be the grounding, but i've checked it and it looked OK..

btw, the bass works fine when music is playing... it only makes tht sound when i off the headunit...

You could switch "auto on" to off and supply a Radio on line or connect to key on fuse in panel. I just finished putting in a Basslink II, it would cut out when playin when I used auto on. Now, it and main amp have "blue" wire. These things pound low (20hz) bass for such a small package.

i dont even wire it to the deck...i took two remote wires and hook one to the remote hole on the amp, and the other remote to the power....and then i hook both the wires into a button or switch....then when i want the bass, i just push the button on....it sounds ghetto but it works great....

My Basslink II included coupling capacitors, I think intructions said use if humms... One in series with + of speaker input (you are using speaker input?) I used phono inputs and line level convertor at OEM radio .Check Infinity site for pdf of instuctions. I could check the value of the caps if you like? Just bi-polar caps , like some use as "bass blockers". The odd thing is, speaker act as microphone and (with all else off) and feedback builts on itself, hence the "closed truck = louder. Just my 2 cents Mark
