Default need advice

ok heres what i want to do

im gonna get two Alpine type r 10/12 inch subs they have 1500watts/500RMS watss. I plan to get an amp that can peak at 600-700RMS

The question i need answered is.... Will i have to change my alternator to be able to support this system? My car is a stock 98 civic ex, no electrical modifications. If i have to replace the alternator what should i get and where can i get one.

need as much advise as possible cuz i will be buying the system soon.

So you are planning to power a pair of those subs with a single 600-700 watt amp? If that is going to be your only amp, I think you will be ok. Just look for a nice class D amp since they tend to be more efficient than a/b amps.

I have a 1999 Integra, I once had a 600 watt JBL bp600.1 AND a Fosgate 600a4 running through my car at the same time. My alternator is still good....for now. There are signs of it getting weak though.

I have a 97 civic ex (basically same car as you) and I was running an 800 watt cadence amp on an idmax for some time without any problems. My headlights would dim slightly, but other than that everything was fine.

ok thanks i was planning on changing the battery to an optima because honestly i dont know how much longer this batter has lol

so basically the amp is good for those subs and i would only notice a slight headlight dimming.

ok thanks for the advise all i gotta do now is look around for the amp.

im prolly gonna go with alpine, any other suggestions?

phoenix gold OCTANE-R 8.0:1

any opinions on phoenix gold... this amp is a class d amp and has a peak of 800watts at 2ohms? Would this be good as long as the resistance on my subs is 2 ohms?

Older PG was very good quality stuff, I haven't heard anything about the newer ones though.

Also, don't go by peak power, it is worthless. Only look at RMS power.

does ne1 know how the newer PG are?

also i checked PG's website to see what the RMS watts are for that particular amp and i could not find it. Does ne1 happen to know the RMS watts on that amp?
