Default [Need Help] Disable Alarm but keep Remote Entry [Audiovox Prestige]

I had an Audivox Prestige Platinum APS-255 installed a few years back. I stopped using it shortly thereafter because it was way too sensitive and would go off whenever anybody parked next to my car.

Anyhow, I really dig the remote entry system, but I can't use it because the alarm goes off every 5 minutes when it is set.

So, my question is this: is there some way to disable the alarm system but keep the remote entry? Would it be something easy like disconnecting the siren and the shock sensor or is there more too it than that?

Can anybody tell me more? I do have the owner and installation manuals, but I'm not much of a wiz when it comes to wiring and electronics.

does your horn/lights go on when the alarm is triggered or just the siren? if just the siren goes on rip the wires going to it out

The lights flash, but the horn stays silent.

yo man i don't know what kinda of car you have but i would keep the alarm no matter how sensitive it is. but as long as you don't set the alarm your problem should be solved. im a assuming it is a different button on your remote that opens the doors. your doors should open even if your alarm isn't set so you probably don't have to unhook any thing.

why not adjust the sensitivity on it?

Sounds like you have the alarm in valet mode.

Lights flash and horn is silent.

Press Lock and then unlock on the remote to disable/enable valet mode.

Actually, it wasn't in Valet Mode, but Valet Mode turns out to be exactly what I want. So, problem solved.
