Fiberglass people....HELP please. *pics
I dont have any on me but ill try to get a few. Its still raw fiberglass and is a work in progress. My opinion is that every car, speaker, situation is going to be a different. I just move the tweeters around and just play with it till i get something i like. I have been trying the tweeters down in kicks to see how that goes. Having the tweeters aimed up from kicks seems to improve instruments and things moving from left to right,(imaging) but the stage is lower compaired to the a pillars. Hopefully tonight ill get to mess with a second set of tweeters in the a pillars after my classes and lab :booo: Im hopeing to get the best of both world but ill have to see. The mids aiming i feel, are the same type of thing. Some speakers to very well off axis and dont have to be aimed right at you. Even off axis they will sound very good. Other mids may have to be pointed at you to get good sound. a good way to see is put the mid in the kick area, wrap it with towels to hold down the cancellation and mess with the aiming until you have an idea what sounds good. What speakers are you using?
It seems to work best to have the tweeters in the kicks with the mids. The ideal setup would be to have all sound coming from just two points, so keeping all speakers together is a good idea, if at all possible. Yes, the stage will most likely be low, but you can easily counter that by having a second pair of tweeters attenuated in the a-pillars. It seems like I am contradicting myself, but when they are attenuated it is a different story.

I havent even gotten a chance to power them up yet. I am hoping they will work well off axis. They have neo tweets, and I hear they work best off axis to reduce the extreme brights? :thinking: Correct me if Im wrong.

Yea, very similar to the lower model CDTs.

I can mount them this low, but I will lose a lot of leg room.

More leg room with the woofer sitting higher. Not sure how this would sound

I pretty much need to get rid of the dead pedal there for a kick to sit and not be too close to the brakes.

Just take out the plastic pieces and put the speaker in that space. Youll probably have to move the passenger side ecu. Here is what im talking about. I know aiming might not be the most idea but have to make some sacrifices to keep the dead pedal
Yeah. Or you could probably just cut a hole in the factory plastic and fiberglass the wood onto it. I was going to do that but i couldnt find another factory pannel. Im debating on doing a back for it. If its completly sealed and the air space isnt right it wont sound right either so some people just vent it to the carpet. I was using it just like that and it sounded pretty good so im going to make a judgment on that later. That pannel was just to see how it would work and if the speaker would fit. Im using 5 1/4s though so it depends on the mounting depth.

Glassing the MDF mounting to the cover. Mean while back that up with a wooden frame into the door's metal body (kinda like a tripod) That way, you'd only be glassing the top, while have the back support of the metal frame? That's something I'd do when I try out the 6000 series on my daily car. Until I'm success, I'll do the 6500s on the other car
I think kickpanels are cool, but they take up too much space, especially in a Honda/acura family (besides the BIG boys of course).
