97 Integra LS Rear Speakers
I am trying to remove the stock speakers from my car but there is this foam around the speaker that i can't move. I would like to leave it in as i think it probably helps reduce rattle and provides better bass. I was looking at the article on team integra but it doesnt say anything about this foam. I can't pull the speaker out because i can't get around that foam. My question is do i have to remove the whole panel or is there a way that i can't figure out to get the speaker out of the hole created when the grill/cover is removed leaving the foam there.
most likely you need to remove the foam. the clearance between the stock grill and the speaker is minimal and when installing a good pair of speakers in there the height of the new speaker is going to be a problem to get inder the factory grill so by removing the foam it will give you a little extra room and it will not press on the aftermarket speaker inducing distortion. If you are worrind about rattles get some dynamat and line the back of the panel around the factory grill but do not run it to close to the hole or it will also take up the room you need for the aftermarket speaker hieght.
hope i helped

Sorry, coupe. ihookitup4u: thanks for the reply but i am not sure i was clear enough abotu where the foam is. Its not behind the speaker, its on the left (towards the front of the car) side. I guess i could just cut it out but i am still not sure i will be able to get the speaker out.
