i tried using it but i am not much of a electrial guy, so i didnt know which setting to put it on to read it. i'll try what u said and post the results tomorrow, thanks for all ur help

you set the multimeter to DC voltage. You are usually looking for 0 or 12 volts(~14.4 when the car is on). you may have to zero it(every one is different). for instance, if you are looking for a door lock trigger wire, when nothing is active the wire in question should read 12 volts. when you hit the switch to lock, it should read almost 0 volts. that is a negative trigger(-). the same goes for ignition wires, you are looking for 0 volts with the switch in the off position, and 12 volts when the switch is in the on position. that is a positive trigger(+).

ok guys i have a problem, i was driving home and my car keep staling out, i checked all the wires and everything was hook right, no shorts.... i unpluged the brain, and it works fine, did myu brain go bad(the viper one lol)

there is no reason for your car to stall because of the alarm. the only wire the alarm should really affect is the starter wire. how did you hook the power wire and ignition wire up? did you cut those wires in the ignition harness in half or did you just tap them? what do you mean by unplugging the brain and it works fine?
