Default 97 Civic Front Speaker Question

I want to get some infinity kappa 2-way 6.5 in. speakers. I'm wondering how well these would fit in my door panel and if i would be able to keep the stock speaker cover attached to the door. Thanks in advance.

Also if anyone has had any experience with these speakers as well as the 6x9 2-ways please give some feedback

I've never dealt with the Infinities you speak of but from experience most decent quality aftermarket 6.5" will require cutting the door panel, and unfortunately the factory screw holes will probably not line up either. That means either drilling new holes and using bolts or creating baffles. You will however be able to still use the factory grills if you are design your baffles correctly. At either rate, it will take some work.

I just put some mb courts in my door and they required cutting. It is not that hard, just make sure the magnet is not to big for the window to go down.

Not sure if they're similar, but i had a 2001 civic and i had to buy special shallow speakers to fit the doors. Plus i had to do some cutting because of the odd shaped speakers and holes that are stock. Again, not sure if the previous gen would be the same, but if so infinity makes a shallow speaker for it. Can't say it was a huge improvemnt over stock, but definatly better.
