Security light won't flash
Hi. We have a 2000 Acura EL with 84,000KM today. It has the factory security, alarm, etc. The alarm works when tested if we reach in the open window and open the locked door. The panic button on the remote works and sets the alarm off. At no time does the security light ever flash.
Basically when we lock the doors we notice the security light on the dash does not flash ever. (not to be confused with the "coded" stereo security light which does flash!). We have had this car for a month and a half and its never flashed. I don't know if its a blown bulb and I imagine its located directly behind the dash.
I called Acura and they said they've never had to repair one at their dealership cos they are reliable and that mine should in fact work on that model/year. Now the Acura dealer is 40 miles away, and the car was purchased at Honda locally. But Honda are giving me the run round whether its covered under my Honda/Acura Plus "Full Coverage, 36mth, 60000KM" warranty. They have not actually looked at it yet. I had asked them basically if the security/security light would be covered if it was that, they won't tell me and seem to say they don't know until they look at it and they just want me to bring it in and then tell me to phone Honda Canada about the coverage or not. I know that it could be anything thats wrong, but I assume that what it is is within that security light circuit. Well I don't want a $200 bill cos it turns out none of its covered. I just wanted to know what is and isn't and go from there.
I still have about 8 mths of the factory 5 year warranty, but I do believe the last two or so years of the 5 years is just drivetrain...???
Regardless.....anyway, have any of you had security lights stop flashing and what was the problem and how to get at it??? I checked all fuses and are OK.
