Okay, if you wanna run 3- 12" Alpine Type R subwoofers which handle 1000W max and you want to supply sufficient power each of these subwoofers... you are gonna need around 500W per subwoofer. Figure each subwoofer would like to get about 150W RMS. One of the options is to get something like the Alpine MRD-M1000 amps and connect all three speakers in parallel. This would give each of the three subs an actual Mono load of 2.67 which gives an equivalent ohms/channel to be at 1.333. Personally I dont like to drop any kind of load below 2 ohms when you are dealing with that much power. Though some amplifiers say they can handle less of a resistance, no matter what they tell you, that small of a load looks a hell of a lot like a short circuit (which usually is not a good thing unless you plan on building an electric heater). Anyway, the more speakers you have connected to one amplifier, the more work that amplifier has to due which leads to a shorter life. And besides an amp that puts out that much power is probably going to be about 2 feet in length to which you can not alter as opposed to getting three smaller amps that you can mount in different locations. Its really not that hard to wire three amps as opposed to a single amp. The hard part is routing the wires from the front to the rear, after that its distribution blocks and a relay for the remote wire.

i dont understand that.

ok an Alpine SWR-1241D is a 4OHM DVC sub and has a power range of 100-300 watts RMS.

the MRD-M1001 is 500 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms OR 1000 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms. running 2OHMs isnt really too low of an impedance, IMO.

so back to the sub, you wire each sub in SERIES and the 3 subs together in PARALLEL, you will net 2.67 Ohms. mated to that amp, you will get a little less than 1000 watts going to the 3 subs. 1000/3 is 333.3 watts per sub.

and the hassle with using 3 separate amps, besides the wiring...will be the settings. good luck setting each sub EXACTLY the same as the next. you can say that its as easy as turning the knob to the same point, but i would trust that as much as i would trust running an indepedant channel to each voicecoil on a DVC sub.

http://arawndark.netfirms.com/DEI_1100D/

will it work...or need do i need to go with somethin diff

just an added note...its 1ohm stable but i read its .5ohm stable for burps.

nice amp. stay with the dual 4OHM subs if you are getting 3.

you wire each sub in SERIES and the 3 subs together in PARALLEL, you will net 2.67 Ohms. mated to that amp, you will get a little less than 800 watts going to the 3 subs. 800/3 is 266 watts per sub.

go for it.

you cant get down to 1 OHM with 3 4OHM DVC subs.

3 DVC drivers with Voice Coils in Series / Parallel

Dual-4 Ohm Subwoofers: 2.67 Ohms
Dual-2 Ohm Subwoofers: 1.33 Ohms

you can get to .67 or .33 OHM though. but i really wouldnt.

yes. if you get the 2OHM DVC, you can drop it down to 1.33

i said stick with the DVC 4OHM because i never felt comfortable with an impedance so low. but ive also never had that amp, so i guess that throws it out the window.
h:

if you feel comfortable and believe in that amp, go for the 1.33. otherwise stick with the 2.66 OHM. if this is just for a daily street application, you should be happy with either.
