Best Alarm Brand
I was wondering what the best alarm brand was. I know that all alarms can be either worthless or the best depending on the install, but what is the best one out there as far as upgradability, and expandability. Im sure when I end up getting one, I would like to have an LCD that tells me if its armed or not...cuz i always forget, and then go out and check. I would also like to be able to wire up separate horns/sirens in the car, possibly remote windows, maybe even remote start.
I have one now that when you press the panic button, it unlocks the doors, then goes into panic...which I think would suck if you wanna scare someone off...your doors open, and they take off in your car. I think its a pretty stupid function. Do all alarms do this?
Thanks

Many of the more popular brands (Clifford, Viper, Hornet...) are all made by DEI. But i think Clifford makes a nice LCD alarm. As far as the remote windows, you can have remote windows installed on pretty much any DEI system. It cost me an additional $40 to have remote windows installed. They roll up when you arm the car and you can roll them down with the remote. I think the panic button on an aftermarket alarm will activate the ignition kill switch if it has one, but i'm not sure about the doorlocks.
Yeah, clifford was the one I was thinking that was the best. I think i have a viper in there now, but im not too fond of it, and gonna sell it with the car. I just wanna know what I should look out for for the new car.
Thanks

Viper 791XV with a proffesional installation will be a very good investment into your car "NO ONE DARE COME CLOSE" lifetime warranty LCD, remote start and you can add any toy you want from window roll ups to field disturbance sensor
hey honestly a car alarm is strictly comfort for the keyless entry, trunk power windows and remote start. but if someone really wants that car of yours there gonna take it and you would have just spent alot of money for nothing. I have a crimestopper alarm and it works fine nothing fancy and it only cost me about 100$

Viper has a GPS set up now for vehicle recovery. Something to look at.
