well, the civic is gone and my two v12 amps and polk speakers are just sitting around... i'm thinking about selling my amps and speakers and starting over w/ some nice components.

I need some recommendations. I am happy with my subs so those are staying.. and my kenwood 922 HU is here to stay.

I'm lookin to spend $150 on 6.5 component fronts and $100 6.5 coaxials in the back. (ebay prices count)

amp wise i'm lookin to spend around 200-300 each amp.

now that u got my story straight

1) $150 for 6.5 components (heard infiniti's don't hit hard?)
2) $100 for 6.5 coaxials in the back
3) $200-300 for a new 4 channel amp (if anyone knows of a more powerful 'old skool' alpine v12 than the 50x4 MRV-F307 i got let me know the model number)
4) $200-300 for a 2 channel that can supply 400x1 rms (if u found me a more powerful 4channel then i'm keeping my MRV-T707).
5) as gay as it sounds, i like it when my amps match

If it was me, I'd just try to spend more money on my components and get something really nice. Dump the rears all together, you really don't need them. Then get a nice 75x4 or 100x4 amplifer and use that to power your whole system.

It's a lot easier and cheaper of a route then what you are proposing. This could allow you to get much nicer items....just a thought.

 

someone explain to me why the rear fills really do'nt do anything or might hurt the system if i get nice ones

CDT audio makes an awesome rear fill speaker. They're inexpensive as well, model cl-6x. Those are what i have right now. I've also heard good things about their component sets as well, although i haven't heard them myself. www.cdtaudio.com

 

The reason people dont tend to use rear fill is because if you are trying to reproduce the recording as if it was performed the sounds should sound like its coming all from in front of you. Kinda like the recording was made in stereo so it should be reproduced in straight stereo. In such a small car, unless you just need it to be insainly loud then i would ditch the rear fill and spend the extra money as good as front speakers as you can get.
