Default Choke coil?

I'm installing an Alpine deck and the manual shows a choke coil after the fuse but before the radio in the power wire. What is it, what does it do, do I need one, where can I get one if I do?

Thank you!!!

Traditionally, a choke coil is used as a filter. Being that it's being put in line with the power wire, it's being used as a low pass filter. This would help keep alternator whine from getting in to the radio on the power input to the radio.

You can try it without it, it won't hurt anything, but if you notice alternator whine, you might want to put one in.

Chances are that you have a high power amp like the 9815 or something similar that requires you to get a direct fused battery hookup with a thicker gauge wire.
No big deal get like a 15 uH inductor "choke" coil.
