Default Kenwood DPX-MP4030 CD/MP3/Cassette installation

Did anyone attempt installing a Kenwood DPX-MP4030 CD/MP3/Cassette unit into a 1998-2002 Honda Accord LX 4dr with 4spkr factory audio?

This is the only unit available in the market with MP3/CD/Cassette/receiver, all in a doubleDIN unit. However, Crutchfield says that the width of the unit is about an inch less than the standard DIN opening on Honda accord, as also the bolt pattern, which is very different. They said they will send a kit to cover up the blank areas, but they recommended using a professional for installation.

I am not sure if a professional is *really* required. But again, I am not sure what the wiring and speaker power implications are for this Kenwood system. My vehicle already has a singleDIN cassete/receiver which I plan on ditching. I am pretty satisfied with my 4-way factory speaker system and am not interested in replacing them.

Any comments/suggestions will be most appreciated

Well I'm not 100% positive about the wiring for the HU, but i'm going to assume that the spkr wiring isn't going to be a hassle for u and that the normal Kenwood harness will work.

In terms about the kit...if i didn't know ANYTHING about fabricating some sort of kit for the HU, i'd take it to a pro. I'm not sure how the kit Crutchfield gave u is and how it fits in your car, but u might have to attach some extensions to fit the old HU frame. Or at least that's wut i would be thinking of to do.

Post up some updates when you got it!
