Anyone know how to replace the door speakers in a 2004 Civic 2-door? The originals are a real oddball design with a plastic frame that snaps into the door structure - no mounting screws. It's about the same size as a 6-1/2", but a 6-1/2" won't fit without cutting -- the opening in the structure isn't big enough. Plus, the edge of the OEM speaker fits snugly into a gasket in the door panel, so something must be done to seal the aftermarket speakers.

I'm thinking about making a spacer about 7/8" thick to hold a standard 6-1/2" out far enough to contact the gasket on the door panel. That will still require cutting metal, though, to make the hole big enough just for the rear end of the basket.
