hi ppl, i just bought myself a 94 accord vtis
its got the 2.2 litre vtec sohc. auto.

- i got tappet noise on low accel. & idle: what should i do? is it bad?

-when i first try to accelerate i feel it lagging and then it goes: what can i do to fix this problem?

-is having the sohc bad or is it a good engine and where can i find info about this engine and what mods i can do to it

-how do i know what generation my accord is?

-what improvements can i do to my engine to get the most out of it without spending big $$$

your accord is 5th gen. engine code f22b1. forget about the noises, it's all in your BRAIN. about making it fast w/out spendin money, well get some paper, write your wishes and put it in a pair of red socks, wait till december!
of course, you gotta spend money to get rid of the lag, drop a turbo or just swap it out for h22, or bring it to mechanic: tell him to advance spark timing and also throw everything useless in the car out.

 

so how much would a h22 engine cost to drop in there
and what i meant in not spendign big is im prepared to spend 1-2000 Aussie dollars.

 

Welcome to the world of Honda....Tappet noise is perfectly normal.

If it didn't tap...It wouldn't be a Honda!!!
