the icebox is great, but i wonder if you could modify a stock air box to be like it. Remove the resonator, install a highflow filter, and form an air scoop out of HomeDepot parts.

you could, but you'd also need to smooth the inside of the box out (fiberlgass perhaps?), and also you'd need to use a foam filter somehow, not the K&N style....although the K&N style would work it'd be far true replica. Also, the ice box's box has a calculated volume and a calculate pipe length and ID size....so basically, no, you couldn't really make one exactly like it unless you knew what the heck you are doing..

That is such a simple design you could make it yourself and include a drop in filter for 1/4 the price if not less.

Ghetto rig?? nah man its doing what works for a priice that is affordable. If you put a little time into it you can make look and perform identical.
