Auto Tranny fluid change
Hey guys,
The manual says to use Honda premium...... blah blah. But is there
anything better? What do you guys use? and do i need a special
flushing solution, ive seen some around but the manual didnt say
nothing about it. This is my first time doing a ATF change on this
car (6th gen sedan) , so any help would be great.
thanx

woah... $100 i only spent like $36 for a case of honda atf z1. and just drained myself. no flush since it's a 92 legend. drain and fill is the way to go. there's only one kind of honda atf. should just say aft z1. hope this helps. i got it for $3 a quart.
flush is not recommended for older cars, but for a 6th gen, a flush would be fine. but when i drained the legend... there were soooo much metal shavings. i still have to drain and fill two more times in the next 6 months for 2 more oil changes. i drain while i do oil change for 3 atf drains.
fryd up... it's basically like an oil change...
eliteaccord... "technition says that there is a 50/50 chance that in doing a flush it might result in ruining my transmition all together. When i procede to ask the gentleman why, he explains that in doing the flush all the dirt and tiny pieces of metal can end up seating themselves into parts of the transmition and can very quickly distroy the whole thing. He also tells me that this is a problem exclusive to Acura's with over 100,000 miles on them...."
"It's because the flush process is reverse flow. Honda actually recommends the 3-4X drain refill procedure and NO additives"
