I'd buy one in a hot minute! Awesome mileage!! Been thinking about selling my Accord and getting the VW Jetta TDI. Just can't bring myself to part with my Honda...

I think that would be a very fun car to drive in the city. The diesel would give the accord more lower end oomph. Good acceleration from diesels because they are usually more "torquey" motors.

I dont know bout that but I drove a diesel car around for about 3 yrs and hated it. black smoke would always come out of the exhaust and the price of diesel is about the same price as regular. It used to be about 50 cents cheaper. and finding a station that sells diesel. It sux to drive in the winter time. BUT thats jus me.

diesel engines can get wet without any worries right? im not talking about going to the car wash and rinsing the engine, but can be submerged under water and still work. I dont know for sure but my uncle who had a diesel truck said this was possible. Can someone clarify for me before i submerge this new accord in ten feet of water.

NOT!

Hydro-lock is still hydro-lock... If the air intake is below water, it's still a big problem.

Submerging the engine itself isn't something that's fundamental to gas or diesel. If the engine block can take the thermal shock, then it's OK. As long as there aren't any other ways for water to screw something up. Like breather vents for the transmission, electrical connections that short out, water getting on your clutch, or a zillion other things that you don't usually think about.

diesels have come a loooong way since then. car magazines are raving over the new BMW 5-series tdi: 3.0 with 215hp and 349lb-ft of tq @ 2000rpm. it rips in ANY gear. power is always on tap. its just as smooth/quiet as a gas motor and gets 30% better milage. its just as clean as the next car tooo
