Autozone is telling me that there is only one but I was sure the EX had two and Honda say ther are two so what's up. I'm doing my sisters timing belt this weekend, is there anything extra you need when doing a belt and water pump on an accord? I have done quite a few civics and a friends 97 Accord SE but never an Accord SOHC VTEC. Thanks guys.

Sorry, I meant the dealer said there are two timing belts. So I think all I need to do the job is the two timing belts (if two is correct), alt. belt, PS/AC belt, a valve cover gasket and a water pump gasket right?
What they probably meant was the balance shaft belt, which must also be replaced with the timing belt. When you remove the cover, you will see the two belts... they look identical, save for the timing belt being much longer. I had my timing belt and balance shaft replaced, water pump, crank case seal, and balance shaft seal replaced. Only replace the valve cover gasket if it is leaking, mine was still good on my 96 w/ 93kl miles, so I saw no reason to replace it...and chances are the gasket is still good on the 97. As for the accesory belts, 5th gen Accord does not use a serpentine belt... you have a power steering pump belt and an alternator belt. These should be replaced with the timing belt also, since you already have everything off and the two belts are only about $23 at the most (I only use Gates, which is on par with Honda quality) Hope this helps.

Balance shaft belt (everyone just calls it a timing belt), timing belt,
AC/alternator drive belt and power steering drive belt...
