**6th Gen. V6 Transmissioin Problems???**
Hey all,
Some of you know that recently purchased a 2k Accord V6 Coupe with 48k miles on it.
It was a honda certified vehicle, so i get 12 month/12k miles bumper to bumper and also a 100k miles or 7 year(from year of car)power train i think? I think that comes standard with honda's? Correct me if i'm wrong! Oh..and i have that honda car thingy, does that deal with this? Sorry, i probably just need to call honda...
Sorry!
Anyway, down to that i'm tryin to say. I recently owned a 96 accord lx sedan. I know how that tranny felt. It was an auto as well btw. I floored that thing many many many many many times(you get the ideas). I bought it at 70k miles and when it got totalled it was just over 100k miles...like 800 over i believe. Anyway, that transmission shifted GREAT compared to this one i have now! The one i have now when i floor it totally jerks the whole car and sometimes feels lke it "skips" when tryin to shift. Like it tried to pick up the gear but dropped it so it trys again in a splt second. I know i have more hp and torque, but its not that drastic of an increase.
This occurs from 1st to second REALLY bad....it also doesnt shift really well from 2nd to third. Just about 30 minutes ago i was coming home from mcdonalds and i was pullng out of the parking lot acceleratng by floorng it. And it did this HUGE jerk when goin to second. I'm not sure what to make of this.
I have heard about the recall of the v6 accords' transmissions from 98-2k? I think thats the year range, i saw it on "owner link" from honda. They basically extended the transmission warranty to 100k miles. I though power train included transmission? I'm probably wrong on the warranty information to begin with.
Honda said that those transmission had "pre-mature wear"(letter posted below). So i'm somewhat guessing that maybe it has worn a lil? I'm tryin to think of other possbilities, but thats the only one. I"m sure the fluid has been chance, hence its a honda certified vehicle. They probably flush all fluids in the car correct? Besides, i dont think its that old for old fluid to come into play in the transmission for causing errors.
Please some feedback on this. I did a search and it didnt yield much results.

American Honda Extends Warranties on Select Automatic Transmissions
TORRANCE, Calif., Sept. 20, 2002 - American Honda Motor Co., Inc. announced today it will provide extended warranties on approximately 1.2 million Honda and Acura models equipped with automatic transmissions due to problems that may result in premature wear or failure. The extended warranty will cover affected transmissions for seven years or 100,000 miles.
The standard bumper-to-bumper warranty for Honda vehicles is three years or 36,000 miles, while Acura vehicles are covered for four years or 50,000 miles.
Vehicles covered by the extended warranty include:
2000 - 2001 Honda Accord, Odyssey and Prelude
2000 - 2002 and some 2003 Acura 3.2 TL
2001 - 2002 and some 2003 Acura 3.2 CL
While only two percent of these vehicles have experienced these transmission problems, American Honda will provide extended transmission warranties on all potentially affected vehicles. "Our priorities are making sure our customers are taken care of and reassured they can continue to depend on their Honda or Acura automobile for a long time to come," said Tom Elliott, executive vice president for American Honda.
There is usually plenty of warning to the driver that the transmission is not operating properly, such as slow or erratic shifting, giving them ample time to take the vehicle in for service.
American Honda will notify all owners of eligible vehicles via mail in the coming weeks.

Thanx guys!

yes, powertrain warranty means the motor and the transmission. I dunno, you should atleast go into the dealer and have them check if anything is wrong. It never hurts to ask them to take a look at it if the jerking is severe as how you describe it. Damn...but 7yrs/100k miles?? Honda got balls to do that.
