Default 4th gen accord exhaust modding

Hey i have a 4th gen accord, and I am new to the idea of modding your exhaust. What would happen if you just get a high flow catalytic converter with your stock exhaust? Would you get the horsepower gain or would you have to go with a catback or an axelback exhaust to get the gains?

Also, what affect does the high flow converter have on sound by itself?

You wouldn't get a thing. You would still have the same amount of backpressure in the pipe.

I have Tanabe Race Medallion muffler, custom 2 1/2 inch pipe to cat. High flow straight through cat. ( Basically a cherry bomb muffler) Thats where I stopped in hopes of dropping an h22 in soon.

To just mod your stock exhaust. You can cut off the resonator and weld in a straight pipe.

dude you still get some HP increase.... taking out the stock cat and replacing it with a highflow cat will create better breathing in the car.... however i dont recomend getting a high flow cat with the stock exhaust..... buddy of mine did that, and it sounds like sh**...... just get a catback.... you don't really need a highflow cat

What I'm going to to is straight pipe it and keep my cat for when I need it inspected. It makes sense to me.

Well, then since it seems clear i'm just going to get a catback exhaust, do you know of some QUIET catback exhausts? I don't want anything that sounds too ricy, if you know what i mean.

not like you gain all that much from exhaust anyway...i mean...it'll be much better breathing for the whole i/h/e system...but u need the i/h part of that...exhaust on its own don't do jack

RS*R and apexi world sport are the most quiet/best exhaust you can buy. RS*R is better though.

All those types of questions are detailed on the CD in my signature, I hate to be plugging my stuff here, but you can find out a lot of that information as well as much better information as it includes a ton of very technical and reviewed articles so that you get the "100% truth", or at least as close as your going to come....instead of a ton of "he said she said" stuff. Anyhow, if you're interested, follow the link in my sig.

If you buy a good highflow cat then the sound wont increase. At least it shouldnt. If you use a testpipe then its going to be loud, cause high flows still have some kinda of resonators in them.

I have never heard a Apexi exhaust that was quiet, they are great quality but there not quiet
