pissed
i'm pissed out of my ass. yesterday, i got in my car and the stereo controls on my steering wheel stopped working. the buttons on the right work, but the volume, channel, and mode buttons shut down for some reason. and about a month ago, my cd player broke. i'm taking it in for service tomorrow so i hope they won't be bitches about replacing it since i have a interior dash kit put in. i heard that if they can put the blame on any mods i do, they will. i don't know. its bullshit i'm pissed. waste of my time to have to take care of that shit..
on the bright side, my girlfriend just ordered me the oem aero kit and a greddy exhaust (i think, since she didnt specify, but sh eknows what i like)
god damn.

Where I work, we manufacture and sell can making machinery that goes for up to $1.5 million. If a customer makes unauthorized modifications, he can void the warranty. If our field service tech determines that what he did had any relationship to the problem, then it's SOL. It's no different with a new car, a washing machine, or a stereo. You mess with something that's covered, then you have nobody to blame but yourself if it goes bad and they void the warranty. If the problem with yours is in the steering wheel, then they will probably give you no argument. If it's in the dash, then say a prayer.
By the same token, I doubt that they make up reasons not to honor the warranty. Anyone with that poor a business ethic wouldn't be in business for long.

That sucks about the radio. If your dealer is as nice as the one here then it shouldn't be a prob. I didn't even buy my car there and they're HELLA nice to me. But hell...your girlfriend buys you stuff and obviously has a little knowledge about cars...if she's hot then I'd say you have it made my friend!

Dealers dont get reimbursed as much for warranty work as they do when you foot the bill.
mm..i went in for minor service today and to fix my window side molding AND to get my cd player/steering wheel checked up. i dropped my car off at 10 am and didnt get it back until 6pm. they told me it'd be done by 5, but i waited another hour for them to "finish up." anyways, they're ordering me a new stereo---they said the steering wheel control button problems were related to the disfunction with the cdplayer. so i think its all covered. i even got a free car wash. anyways, i hope the stereo comes in soon...my radio doesnt work anymore, after i guess they fidgeted around with it. its pretty messed up. better get fixed soon or im gonna go crazy..
yep my gf got me a greddy exhaust...she wouldn't specify, but said it cost somewhere between 3-500...anyone might know which it is?

Can you explain how a glue on dash kit will affect the electrics in any way?? Also I have heard too many stories and quotes of Dealers trying to shift blame for warranty fixes to unrelated mods to buy that last line. Case in point, the V6 tranny problems. Some dealers tried to shift blame to any power mods. One guy I know was told his intake was teh cause when in reality, the few ponies an intake gives isnt enough to kill a tranny, and the number of stock cars with blown trannies was high enough for H of A to extend the warranty on them for 7 yrs/100k.

If a dealer can find a reasonable excuse not to cover a repair, then I wouldn't be surprised if he took that approach.
